Unity College & Churches
Charles and Myrtle Fillmore founded the Unity
movement in the late 1800's. After Myrtle Fillmore's remarkable
healing utilizing prayer and affirmations, many who were seeking
help became interested in how she accomplished this healing. From
small prayer circles in living rooms, Unity grew. The first issue
of Unity magazine was published in 1889. The teaching of the practice
of prayer, through classes, churches and correspondence, led to the establishment
of Silent Unity, the Unity School for Religious Studies Continuing
Education Program and Ministerial Education Program and the Retreat
programs. "Unity" publishes inspirational magazines
and books. This was the first Unity College.
Unity members believe that all people are created
with sacred worth. Therefore, they recognize the importance of
serving all people within the Unity family in spiritually and
emotionally caring ways. Unity members strive for their ministries,
publications, and programs to reach out to all who seek Unity
support and spiritual growth. It is imperative that Unity ministries
and outreaches be free of discrimination on the basis of race,
gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical
disability, or sexual orientation. There sincere desire is to
create spiritually aware organizations that are nondiscriminatory
and that support diversity.
Unity churches reach out to all and they support:
the modification of our facilities to make them accessible to
all people, regardless of physical challenges; the translation
of our materials into Braille and other languages; and respect
for the wonderful variety of human commitments and relationships.
Unity ministers, teachers, and others within Unity to honor the
strength of diversity within their spiritual communities. It is
with love and in celebration of our unity, in the midst of our
wondrous diversity, that we affirm this position.
The Association of Unity Churches is comprised
of approximately 1000 member ministries and satellite ministries
throughout the world. Each ministry is under the leadership of
a licensed or ordained Unity minister, or authorized spiritual
leader. The emphasis in Unity organizations is on spiritual activities,
such as worship services, healing meetings, prayer groups, counseling,
study classes, and youth education, including Sunday school and
programs for young people of all ages. Since acknowledging God's
presence in each person is part of Unity's spiritual purpose,
social functions are also an important part of Unity organizations.

HLC'S INTENDS TO JOINT VENTURE WITH OTHER
"SPIRIT FIRST!" ORGANIZATIONS LIKE UNITY TO BUILD.
SELF-MASTERY K-12 NON-PROFIT ACADEMY'S: By 2014,
HLC intends to create K-12 Self-mastery Academies as a joint venture
project with other "Spirit First!" organizations like Unity
Churches. This has been our founders Hu Dalconzo's dream
ever since he was an inner city schoolteacher almost 30-years
ago. Just imagine a network of K-12 schools where besides reading,
writing and arithmetic, our curriculum will integrate Self-mastery
skills such as Self-parenting so that our students can learn how
to get their Emotional Dependency Needs met. Emotional dependency
needs are the intimacy, nurturing, and unconditional love that
a child "needs" in order to feel safe, sane, and secure so that
he/she can grow up to be an emotionally mature, highly functional
adult. Our Self-mastery schools will use HLC's clinically proven
teaching methods, which takes complex self-help subjects such
as Self-parenting from an abstract, hard to understand theoretical
concept and breaks it down piece by piece into a step by step,
easy to understand, specific set of emotionally Self-nurturing
exercises to make it easy for our K-12 teachers to instruct. Our
K-12 teachers will instruct our joint venture students on how
to master the pieces of Self-mastery, one at a time, until they
have fulfilled all of their emotional dependency needs, while
they are receiving a standardized K-12 education.
